worries can distract you…

there is a good sign that we all need to put before us everyday and it says, "beware of the barrenness of a busy life." don't ever confuse activity with productivity.

there are a lot of you who are on the go all of the time but you're going in circles in what you're doing. there's no focus to your life. there's no rhyme or reason or general purpose. you haven't discovered why GOD put you here.

why? because you're not talking to HIM and you're not letting HIM talk to you. you've got to eliminate the distractions.

JESUS says that distractions are kind of like weeds and HE gives examples. luke 4.14 (ms) and the seed that fell in the weeds—well, these are the ones who hear, but then the seed is crowded out and nothing comes of it as they go about their lives worrying about tomorrow, making money, and having fun.

the first example is worrying
. worries can distract you from hearing GOD speak. you can't pray and worry at the same time. worries are the problems and pressures of daily life.

the greek word here for worrying is the word that means to be pulled in different directions. have you ever felt like that? pulled in different directions.

that's the bible definition of worry. when you're worrying you can't hear what GOD wants to say to you. you're preoccupied, distracted. if you want to hear from GOD you have to weed out worrying about tomorrow.

i know, easier said than done but there are great rewards if you do.

just a thought from the front porch…
