dealing with intimidating people…

if you work for any length of time, you will eventually be around somebody who will try to intimidate you and try to control you. how does GOD want us to deal with intimidating people?

look at this verse. 2 timothy 1.7 (tev), for the SPIRIT that GOD has given us does not make us timid; instead, HIS SPIRIT fills us with power, love, and self-control.

now that is the way that GOD wants you to deal with people. HE wants you to deal with them in power, that's confidence, in love, that means you focus on their needs, and in self-control, that means you don't blow up. and it also says that GOD's SPIRIT doesn't make us timid, it doesn't turn us into weaklings.

the philips translation of this verse says, GOD has not given us a spirit of cowardness. the living bible in this verse says, GOD doesn't want you to be afraid of people.

and yet i know CHRISTians all of the time who think, i just have to let people have their own way, i have to let them run over me. the bible doesn't say that. not at all.

if you want to deal with cranky co-workers, you realize that you are not going to please everybody, in fact you don't even have to, and then you realize that you never retaliate, you refuse to retaliate, you refuse to argue, don't be drawn into arguments, and you refuse to automatically give in.

just a thought from the front porch…

Some good advice ... God often calls His people to act in courage. His counsel is never to do something out of fear.

Thanks for the reminder.
