worry is unreasonable, unnatural, unhealthful,
unnecessary and it's un CHRISTian. you’re
acting as if GOD’s not here to help. CHRISTians are not to worry. it’s a poor testimony. it’s a lousy example to the world. it’s acting like an unbeliever.
the worst kind of worry is “things are going so
good, something’s got to go wrong!”
that’s got to be the worst kind of worry. what that’s saying is i
believe GOD is the kind of person who blesses me for a little while then just
to keep me in line, HE pulls the rug out from under my feet and HE really socks
it to me. GOD lifts me up so HE can let
me down. and things are going really
good, more than i deserve, so the bummer’s coming around the corner.
the fact is, if we got what we deserved, none of us
would be here. GOD does not deal in my
life or in your life in what you deserve.
if so, none of us would be here.
GOD gives us what we need, not what we deserve because HE loves us,
because HE is good. but it’s all available
by trust.
GOD says don’t worry. it’s unreasonable, it’s unhealthy, it’s
unhelpful, it’s unnatural, it’s un CHRISTian, it’s unnecessary.
GOD has never worried. not once!
in a million trillion years. if we’re going to be like GOD in HIS
character, HIS nature, if we’re going to become godly, HE doesn’t want us
worrying.
that’s great but how do i stop? i want to stop worrying. i realize it doesn’t do any good in my
life. how do i stop?
berating yourself doesn’t do any good. and you cannot stop worrying simply by an act
of will: i’m not going to worry, i’m not
going to worry even if it kills me. you
don’t stop worrying by forcing yourself to not worry. putting yourself down, berating yourself
doesn’t work. how do you stop?
when GOD commands you to do something, HE always
give you the power and the practical steps to fulfill it. what are the steps in how to overcome worry? we’ll look at step one tomorrow here on the
front porch.
just a thought from the front porch…
