HE keeps HIS promise…

we are looking here on the porch at the fact that we can count on GOD to reward our generosity.

rick warren tells of a man who visited his church in orange county in california.  the man did not even live in the area, he wasn’t a member of the church.  but he caught the vision of their church and wanted to become a part of the giving to buy land for their church.  they at the time were meeting in a school.

the man said, i believe what the church is doing, GOD’s got his hand on it and i want to be a part of it even though i can’t attend. 

and rick said that right before we were to close escrow in december, this man gave $250,000.  it blew his mind!  then three weeks later he heard the rest of the story. 

after CHRISTmas vacation the man went back to work and on the first business day his board decided to call a board meeting.  he didn’t know what the board meeting was for when they asked him to come in.  they said, “you have been a very good president to us.  we think you’ve produced well.  we want to honor you.  we’re going to give you a onetime bonus.”  without knowing about his gift to the church, they gave him a bonus of $750,000. 

GOD is faithful.  HE keeps HIS promise.  when HE says, give and it will be given unto you it’s not a fund raising technique. that is a promise of GOD just like every other promise in the bible.  count on it!  if you haven’t learned to be a generous person you are just cheating yourself.
