one of
the ingredients that go into a change of heart is i believe that GOD wants what’s best for me.
isaiah
48.17 (niv), i am the LORD your GOD who
teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way that you should
go. GOD wants what’s best.
do you
remember when as a kid and your parents said to you, this is what’s best for
you. but that never meant anything
good. it was always going to be
something not fun, something you didn’t want to do. so when we read this, there’s something in us
that says, “that’s what GOD’s going to do.
HE wants what’s best for me. it’s
not going to be any fun, no joy in it.”
but
listen!!! GOD made you. HE created you to live a fulfilled, abundant
life. that’s why HE put you on this
earth. why do you think HE made you
except for that? that GOD who knows you
better than anyone else and HE wants what’s best for you and is working in
every one of our lives to do what’s best for us. GOD is not out to make us miserable.
romans
15.13 (niv), may the GOD of hope fill you
with all joy and peace as you trust in HIM.
if i
drive into a gas station, i’m there to get gas.
if i go into a donut shop, i’m there to get donuts. i’m not there to get coffee in a donut shop. i’m there to get donuts. that’s why i used to go there.
if you
go to the GOD of hope, what are you going to get? misery?
of course not. if you’re going to
the GOD of hope, you’re going to get hope.
this verse reminds us you also get peace, you also get joy. that’s who GOD is. that’s what HE wants to give into our
lives. HE will go to any extent to give
hope and joy and peace into our lives.
just a
thought from the front porch…
