the key to being a success in life…

the truth is i don’t always feel like doing the right thing.  i don’t always feel like being nice to people, do you?  i don’t always feel like putting my wife and children’s needs ahead of my own.  i don’t always feel like reading the bible or praying.  i don’t always feel like forgiving people.  i don’t always feel like giving.  i don’t always feel like doing the right thing.  but feelings are highly unreliable.  the world says, base everything you do on your feelings.  if it feels good do it.  if it doesn’t feel good, don’t do it.  GOD says don’t base your life on feelings, base your life on faith.  and that will make it an adventure.

do you want to be successful?  let me give you what is the key to being a success in life.  successful people simply do things that unsuccessful people are unwilling to do.  that’s it.  successful people simply do the things that unsuccessful people are unwilling to do.  they’re willing to pay the price.  olympic athletes spend hours and hours in training, far beyond what the average athlete will do.  master musicians spend hours and hours in practice more than what the typical musician will do.  the super salesman are those who go out and make the extra call, the extra effort, the extra time when the other person has decided to go home and watch tv.  the godly man and the godly woman are that way by choice.  because they’ve chosen to pay the price for the disciplines and spiritual habits that produce godliness in their life.  and that’s a choice.

the point is this.  if you will trust GOD even when you don’t feel like it, GOD will give you the strength to keep on working on that marriage when you think, “this is hopeless!”  if you will trust GOD even when you don’t feel like it, GOD will give you the strength to pick yourself up and dust yourself off and start over again when you’ve had a business failure.  HE will give you the strength to keep on keeping on when you feel like throwing in the towel and giving up.

just a thought from the front porch…
