Being a good tipper...

Meekness is strength under control.  JESUS said, “Happy are those who don’t overreact to people.”  So let’s look at some ways to work on your reactions:

Here is one, when someone serves you, be understanding not demanding.

Philippians 2.4-5 (NLT), “Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. You must have the same attitude that CHRIST JESUS had.”

How do you treat people who serve you?  Waitresses, secretaries, clerks, tellers at the bank, fast food operators.  Are you understanding or demanding?

I have a real personal problem with people who say they are CHRISTians and they are cheap tippers.  Let me tell you something, if you are a poor tipper in restaurants, please, please don’t pray before your meal in thanks to GOD.

Stef, Brett and Marissa, my kids have all been wait people and they've said that the going idea is that the longer the prayer before the meal the smaller the tip.  That is a horrible witness.  That is why when I go out to eat with some one, I try to take care of the tip.  I want to be a good witness.  I don’t want to be an embarrassment to GOD.

Listen, CHRISTians have a reputation of being very, very pushy, very, very cheap, very rude, very demanding and not very understanding.  The secret of great service is to treat people with respect.

Just a thought from the front porch…
