something powerful to be reckoned with...

and now prayer, james here is this last section of his short book mentions prayer seven times. and we are so glad he did.

look at verse 16 of james 5 (ms), the prayer of a person living right with GOD is something powerful to be reckoned with. that is something that everyone of us want said of us isn't it? so we are going to spend some time with james on the subject of prayer.

now what verse 16 says is true, prayer...is something powerful to be reckoned with. it is without a doubt one of the greatest privileges of being a CHRIST follower, being able to talk to GOD, and it is the greatest power in the life of a person living right with GOD. what prayer can do is what GOD can do. anything that GOD can do can be done through prayer. it truely is something powerful to be reckoned with.

now JESUS said, the things that I do, you'll do also even greater works. so how do we do greater works than JESUS? JESUS said in the verse underneath it, it's by prayer. anything you and i need, we pray for. it's our greatest responsibility. it's probably our greatest failure in the CHRISTian life.

we talk a lot about prayer, we study about prayer, but a lot of us are not too satisfied with our prayer life. so let's spend some time with james and see what we need to do to make our prayers more powerful and effective. (niv)
