feel safe in uncertain times…

high on GOD's list of priorities is HIS desire to make HIS adopted children feel safe. HE knows how important that is for us to feel safe in uncertain times. so, HE says, “I will never leave you or forsake you. I will never abandon you or make you feel like an orphan. call upon ME in turbulent times,” HE says, “and I will always answer you.” those are promises from GOD.

beyond promises, HE gives us his very presence. sounds mystical, but many of us know what it's like. many could attest to the fact that in the deepest valleys in the times of personal tragedy and heartbreak, we have felt the sustaining presence of GOD in such a powerful way that somehow, while our worlds were falling apart, we felt a strange sense of safety.

some of us have stood by hospital beds or at gravesides. some of us have received devastating medical reports or pink slips at work at the wrong time, and while our worlds were crumbling around us, we felt a curious awareness that GOD was not going to let us sink into the abyss of despair, but rather, somehow, someway, HE was going to put us back on solid ground where we could eventually feel stable and safe again.

when you grow in your relationship with GOD to the point where you regularly feel safe feel secure in HIS care, it feels a lot like being home. no matter where you are, you feel at home because you're safe.

just a thought from the front porch…
