In managing my anger it is not only important to resolve
to manage it but also to realize the cost of uncontrolled anger.
You're less likely to get angry if you realize what
it's going to cost you. There is always
a price tag when you get angry.
Proverbs 29:22 (LB), "A
hot tempered man starts fights and gets into all kinds of trouble."
You will never get to the top if you keep blowing
your top. When you loose your temper
you're the one to lose. You always lose
out.
The Bible is very specific about the damage that
uncontrolled anger does.
Proverbs 15:18 (TEV), "Hot
tempers cause arguments."
Proverbs 14:29 (LB), "Anger
causes mistakes"
Proverbs 14:17 (TEV), "People
with hot tempers do foolish things"
Proverbs 11:29 (LB), "The fool who provokes
his family to anger and resentment will finally have nothing worthwhile
left." It destroys
relationships. If you don't get this in
control, it destroys relationships.
Parents, understand that when we motivate our kids
with anger, we can get short term results – we put the fear of GOD in them, we
get angry and they do it out of fear.
But in the long-term relationship, we always lose. Anger always produces other anger back,
apathy, and alienation. It strains the
relationship.
Just a thought from the front porch…
