GOD takes the ordinary and does the extraordinary through those who desire to do HIS will, who want to be used by HIM. do you want to be used? there are two attitudes that mary showed that you must have in your life if GOD's going to work in your life in an extraordinary way.
look at what she said in luke 1.46-48 (ncv), my soul praises the LORD, my heart rejoices in GOD my SAVIOR, because HE has shown HIS concern for HIS humble servant girl.
she had enthusiasm. she says, my soul praises the LORD, my heart rejoices. this is no grin and bear it, "GOD's going to use me so let's get it over with." it's not a matter of acceptance or tolerance. it's a matter of eagerness. "GOD, i want to be used. i want YOU to use me for whatever YOU made me for because that's what i was meant to be." nothing great is ever done without enthusiasm. where do you get enthusiasm? the word comes from two greek words: "en" and "theos" – in GOD. if you get in GOD you'll be enthusiastic.
and then she had humility. my heart rejoices in GOD…because HE has shown HIS concern for HIS humble servant girl. mary did not say, "i was wondering when you'd get around to choosing me! GOD, you really got a deal when you chose me to be the mother of JESUS! i'll perform good." no, she just says, i'm a humble servant girl.
the point is this: none of us deserve to be used by GOD. we're all trophies of GOD's grace. GOD works in our lives, GOD blesses us, not because we deserve it, but because HE desires it. GOD gives us what we need not what we deserve. you'll never deserve it so you just humbly say, "thank YOU, LORD, for working in my life."
the first key, if GOD is going to work in your life, if the extraordinary is going to be done through the ordinary, if you're going to see HIS plan happen and you be what HE made you to be, you must desire it. it's not automatic. you must say, "GOD, i desire YOUr will for my life" – a definite act.
