the waste of it all...

james talks about another abuse. james 5.5 (ms), you've looted the earth and lived it up...

we live in a world where so much is wasted. did you know that at one point in time our plates that we use to eat off were the size of our salad plates? now they are twice as big. do you really realize how much waste we throw out everyday. we have big mountains that we are building that all they are is waste.

as a nation, americans generate more waste than any other nation in the world with 4.5 pounds of municipal solid waste (msw) per person per day, 55 percent of which is contributed as residential garbage. the remaining 45 percent of waste in the u.s.'s ‘waste stream' comes from manufacturing, retailing, and commercial trade in the u.s. economy.

and james is telling us here to not waste our wealth. one of the greatest temptations, i think, that we have to avoid as we make more and more, we're tempted to spend it selfishly on ourselves. the more money you make the easier it is to waste it. we tend to say things like, "i'm worth it. i can afford it, so why not?"

folks, just because i can afford it doesn't mean i need to buy it. james says, don't waste it. it's easier to waste your money, the more you have it.

verse 5 (ms), ... but all you'll have to show for it is a fatter than usual corpse.

did you know that the average american gains two pounds during the CHRISTmas season.

just some thoughts here on the front porch...
