no work - no eat...

the promise: philippians 4.19 (niv), and my GOD will supply all your needs...

who is the source? and my GOD.

and what will HE do? will meet all your needs. this includes everything. it doesn't say that GOD
might meet your needs, but will meet your needs. it's a guarantee. if you met the premise, count
on the promise. if you are a consistent, generous giver you can count on the promise. GOD is
going to take care of your needs.

now one thing it doesn't include is the consequences of laziness. this is not an invitation to
goof off. GOD expects you to work. this is not an invitation to set around with folded hands
and say, "i'm just trusting the LORD to provide." that isn't contentment, it's complacency.
there's a big difference. HE has not promised to meet your needs if you set around and do
nothing.

2 thessalonians 3:10 (ms), and now we're getting reports that a bunch of lazy good-for-nothings are taking advantage of you. this must not be tolerated. we command them to get to work immediately—no excuses, no arguments—and earn their own keep. people who are unwilling (not unable) to work should not be given handouts.

in other words, no work - no eat. this doesn't mean i can be lazy.

just a thought from the front porch
