two greatest barriers to peace of mind…

we are continuing in our phrase by phrase look through the LORD’s prayer, looking at how to have inner peace in this stress filled world that we live in and two greatest barriers to peace of mind without a doubt are guilt and resentment.  guilt comes from what we do to other people.  resentment comes from what other people do to us.

now we have talked about that the only antidote to guilt is to receive the forgiveness of GOD.  and in the same way the only antidote to resentment is to offer the forgiveness of GOD to other people.

we have been looking at the first part of matthew 6.12 (lb), now we’ll look at the second part.  forgive us our sins just as we have forgiven those who have sinned against us.  we are to forgive others just like we have been forgiven.

in life you’re going to be hurt many times, sometimes intentionally, sometimes unintentionally.  and the source is not what’s important but how you choose to respond to the hurt.  the only way you can get inner peace when you’ve been hurt is to let it go, to forgive.

just a thought from the front porch…

Must admit that I have looked at this verse over the years "forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us". Can you imagine having to forgive someone exactly the same way as we expect to be forgiven? that's a tough call. It's always bugged me.
Nice post again Bill.

that is the basis that God forgives us. on the basis that we forgive.
