what it doesn’t say…

one of the greatest verses in the bible is romans 8.28 (nasb),  and we know that GOD causes all things to work together for good to those who love GOD, to those who are called according to HIS purpose.  this is a very important verse.

first notice what it does not say.  many people misunderstand this verse.  it does not say that all things are good.  obviously, not everything is good in the world.  cancer is not good.  rape is not good.  bankruptcy is not good.  there are a lot of bad things.  this is not heaven folks.  in heaven everything is done perfectly.  this is earth.  we’re fallen.  that’s why we pray, “THY will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”  so things are not perfect here.  don’t blame GOD for the mistakes and the sins of other people.  sure GOD could take away all the sin in the world.  HE’d just take away our freedom to choose.  but HE’d have to take away your freedom to choose too.  so HE gives you the freedom to choose and sometimes you make dumb mistakes and sometimes other people do and sometimes you’re an innocent victim.  don’t blame GOD for those problems.  that’s the will of man.  so not all is good.  it doesn’t say that.

it also does not say that all things work out the way i want them to.  we’d like it to say that but it doesn’t say that.  obviously not everything in the world works out the way you like it to.  it’s not always going to work out that way.

it also does not say all things have a happy ending.  that is not true either.  on this earth all things do not have a happy ending.  there’s some very sad endings to things in life.

just a thought from the front porch…

Good reminders - We too often forget, God's ways aren't out ways and His thoughts not our thoughts
