it is not GOD’s intention…

how do you know when you’re doing too much in your life, when you’re being pushed by perfectionism and guilt rather than motivated by GOD?  how do you know if all the things you’re doing are what GOD expects you to do or you just put those expectations on yourself?  how do you know when you’re doing too much?

simple:  you’re always tired.

it is not GOD’s will for your life to always be tired.  it’s not.  GOD never intended for you to go around with that heavy a load.

matthew 11.28-30 (gnb), JESUS said, one of the most important verses on life, come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying your heavy loads and I will give you...

... more loads?  is that what HE says?  “I’ll just dump more on
you.  we’ll add to your schedule.”  no, HE says, I’ll give you rest.  the yoke I will give you is easy and the load I will put on you is light.

the word “yoke” – HE’s not talking about the kind of yoke that binds two cattle together.  it’s like the pictures of peasants in europe where they have a cross bar over their neck and some maid is carrying two pales of milk attached to a yoke.  that’s the yoke HE’s talking about here.  everybody is carrying a yoke. you’re carrying one today.

what’s got you burdened?

just a thought from the front porch…
